Yardville Elementary School students celebrated Read Across America week by organizing a book drive.

Yardville’s Stars Falling Upon the Community Service Club collected gently used books for families in need.

At a meeting on March 5, club members created “book bundles.” The students carefully selected four to five books based on grade and ability level for students in pre-K through fifth grade.

The book bundles were delivered to the families on March 7.

After the bundles were delivered there were plenty of books leftover. Students donated the remaining books to the Boys and Girls Club of America.

Yardville parent Emily Balerna and basic skills teacher Jennifer Mapps run the Service Club. The club meets once a month to work on various charity projects.
