Three Saint Gregory the Great parish Catholic Youth Organization basketball teams finished the season undefeated.

The junior varsity girls’, junior varsity boys’ and freshman boys teams were undefeated and took home Mercer County League Championship trophies in February.

The junior varsity girls’ squad coached by Bruce Novozinsky and Debra Hart, went on to win the Diocese of Trenton Championship. They finished the season with a record of 23-0.

The CYO league named Nicole Rende, a fifth grader at St. Gregory the Great Academy, Most Valuable Player. She received MVP trophies for the junior varsity girls’ regular season and all-star game.

The junior varsity boys’ squad, coached by Cyrus Johnson, concluded their season with a record of 18-0.

The junior varsity boys’ and girls’ teams include fifth and sixth grade students from St. Gregory’s parish.

Rounding out the first place tallies, the freshman boys’ team, coached by Bo Burrows, earned a perfect record of 17-0 for the season. The team is comprised of fourth grade students from the parish.

Saint Gregory the Great parish supports 10 CYO teams, including two high school division teams as well as an intramural basketball program for grades three to eight that teaches fundamental skills with weekly games among parish teams. More than 175 students participate in the basketball programs.
