After sampling soup from ten local restaurants, Mercer County residents crowned Little King Sandwich Shop as the Grand Champion winners of the Fifth Annual Soup 4 You contest.

The Rotary Club of Hamilton hosted the contest, which was held on Feb. 27 at Steinert High School. Roughly 300 people attended the event and cast their vote for their favorite soup.

Little King Sandwich Shop won for their Smokey Roasted Potato Soup. Voters then gave the Chef’s Award to Mannino’s 3 Restaurant for their Chicken Alfredo Soup, and worthy of recognition was Mamma Rosa’s Restaurant, who won the Honorable Mention Award for their Vegetable Beef Soup.

Other eateries serving up their signature soups included Killarney’s Publick House, Chicken & Rice Soup; Mastoris, Crab & Asparagus Soup; Coltello Ristorante, Roasted Garlic Soup; Bill’s Olde Tavern, Sweet Potato Soup; LaPiazza Ristorante, Chicken Cheesesteak with Peppers & Onions Soup; Jersey Girl Cafe, Nacho Momma’s Chicken Soup; and Mercer County Culinary School, Smoked Duck with Mushrooms Soup.

The students of the culinary school also prepared generous amounts of homemade pastries, cookies, bread and rolls for the eager soup tasters to sample.
