Robbinsville High School was placed in a lockdown Tuesday afternoon after township police responded to a social media threat made against the school. After an investigation, police deemed the threat “not credible.”

According to a statement from the township, the suspect was questioned outside the school around 2 p.m. yesterday, and was released without charges.

The police department and school officials immediately responded to the social media threat, which was directed at the school, and went into the lockdown from approximately 2:03 to 2:10 p.m., at which time students were dismissed for the day. After-school activities proceeded as scheduled, according to the statement.

“The response by both school administrators and the Robbinsville Police Department was swift and appropriate,” Police Chief Chris Nitti said. “All of the safety protocols put in place worked perfectly. Ultimately, after further investigation, the threat simply was not credible enough to warrant additional action at this time.”

On the Robbinsville Township Facebook, people thanked the police department for handling the situation to keep the students safe.
