The property at 325 Sloan Ave. that was formerly occupied by the AMC movie theater has been sold to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, or CHOP, Hamilton Township announced today.

Hamilton Township and Mercer County have said that they will support CHOP throughout the redevelopment process and that a “thorough, collaborative process is underway” to develop proposals for the future use of the property, which will be followed by the development of construction plans.

“As a parent to a young child, I know the concern of every parent for their child’s health,” said Mayor Jeff Martin in a press release. “And having CHOP here in our backyard ensures the children of Hamilton will always have easy access to the best possible medical care. It has been great to partner with Mercer County and CHOP to make this first step a reality, and I am looking forward to our continued partnership through the redevelopment process.”

“Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia serves children from throughout the region and around the world with the aim to make pediatric care available as close to home as possible,” said Madeline Bell, CEO, CHOP. “The health of New Jersey’s children is a key component of our overall mission, and we’re looking forward to the future of bringing high-quality care, expanded services and improved convenience to the families of Central New Jersey and the broader region. This step underscores our commitment to ensure healthier futures for all children.”
