The Bike Exchange, located in the Capitol Plaza Shopping Center, 1500 Olden Avenue, on the Trenton/Ewing border. The spring and summer hours are scheduled for Saturdays from 10 to 4 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.
The volunteer run Bike Exchange is set to reopen for its fifth year of fixing and selling used bikes on March 23.
All proceeds are donated to the Trenton Boys and Girls Club’s after school programs. To date, the group has collected, repaired and sold more than 7,200 donated bikes and raised more than $325,000; allowing more children to participate in the programs.
Along with benefiting the Boys and Girls Club, the bike exchange also aims to help low income families and individuals get bikes at a low cost and help Trenton youth develop work readiness skills by engaging with adult volunteers through its new internship program.
“This program gives our kids exposure to some of the things they need to know and do to be ready to work in today’s world,” Dave Anderson, executive director of the Trenton Boys and Girls Club, said in a statement.
The Bike Exchange offers the community different ways to get involved. Individuals can donate their bike at the store or any other bike shop in Mercer County or volunteer at the Bike Exchange.
Additionally, community members can run their own bike drive within their neighborhood, workplace, school place or worship or scout troop. More information about organizing a bike drive is on the Bike Exchange website, bikeexchangenj.org

The Trenton Boys & Girls Club aims to enable young people, especially at risk youth, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens. The Club provides young people, ages five to 18, with safe havens, academic enrichment, and recreational activities through after-school, weekend, and summer programs.
