Make Property Taxes Fairer

Share post:

The amount of my property tax in West Windsor is three times the amount of my federal income tax. This should illustrate the unfairness of the school tax allocation to us retirees/seniors.

I am a firm believer in a good public school education and am willing to support it –– despite the fact that I never had a child in this school system. My expenses for essentials (food, utilities, insurance, gas) have been steadily increasing. My income has been going in the opposite direction.

How about a fair system for us? Correlate the income tax with the property tax? Or at least freeze the property tax for our lifetime. There must be ways.
