Smires and Associates opened for business in 2010 in Robbinsville situated at the back of a house on Route 33. The space was cozy and suited the real estate agency’s needs at the time, but in the six years since, Smires and Associates has grown to where it has more than 65 agents doing around $130 million in business.

The original office no longer suited the company’s needs, so Ed Smires and co-owner Justin Reed made the decision to up the ante and move into a new office twice the size in Robbinsville’s Town Center. On Oct. 7, they held a grand opening party outside their new Town Center office that went deep into the night.

“In my eyes we basically went from zero miles per hour to a hundred miles per hour in terms of having a true professional office,” Smires said. “We were better off with six people in the old office rather than the over 70 that people that were working there.”

Smires likes that the new office, which is in the newest Town Center building on Route 33, is more visible than the old one. The new office has ample meeting room space and perhaps just as importantly, is wired for the latest technological needs.

“I’m big on meeting clients here now,” Smires said. “I meet them here now more than I’m meeting them at their homes. And now when we’re working with buyers we can go out, show houses, them come back here and revisit the homes we looked at on big screens. The new office gives us the ability to do that.”

Smires said he has a sentimental attachment to Robbinsville—this being where the company got its start—but he never really considered other locations because Robbinsville is centrally located in the agency’s selling territory. Smires and Associates agents do the majority of their business in Mercer County, northern Burlington County, western Monmouth County and southern Middlesex County.

The office has a modern, bright, open floor plan with low-walled workstations and big windows letting in natural light.

“What I love most about the office now is that the office is equal to the professionalism we’ve been delivering,” Smires said. “I’m proud to have closings here.”

Smires said now that the company is settled in the new office, he and Reed can think about their next move. He sees northern Burlington as a territory where Smires and Associates could increase its presence in the coming years, possibly with agents set up in a satellite office to make their dealings most efficient.

Smires and Associates is located at 2330 Route 33, Suite 101, in Robbinsville.
