Lynsey Parrott, a standout field hockey goalie and junior at The Hun School of Princeton, has advanced to the quarterfinals of the Youth Athlete of the Year contest.

Organizers say the winner will be featured in a national 3Brand advertisement in Sports Illustrated and receive a $25,000 prize. The contest also supports two nonprofit organizations: The V Foundation and the Why Not You Foundation.

Voting for the next round opens on Sept. 8 at 1 p.m. and can be done daily at athleteoftheyear.org/2025/lynsey-a8b0.

Parrott made headlines last season by setting every single-season and career goalie record at Robbinsville High School. She was named First Team All-Conference by the Central Jersey Field Hockey Coaches Association and voted Top Sophomore Player in New Jersey in an NJ.com statewide poll.

In a statement, she said her proudest athletic moment came last November at the U.S. Field Hockey Festival in Florida, where her club team, Blue Star, went undefeated, won the championship, and didn’t allow a single goal.

“It was one of those rare moments where everything clicked,” Parrott said. “We trusted each other, played with heart, and made memories we’ll carry forever.”

Parrott credits her mother, Brooke — herself a former college field hockey player — as her greatest inspiration. “She’s not just my mom,” Lynsey shared. “She’s my teammate, motivator, and best friend. Every long drive to a tournament or college visit has brought us closer.”
