Do you routinely develop sinus pressure and congestion, experience post-nasal drip or suffer from a chronic cough?

Such symptoms could be attributed to allergies or any number of causes, and the medical team at Becker Nose & Sinus Center might be able to offer relief.

“We strive to provide top-notch care for people with sinus and allergy-related problems,” said Dr. Samuel Becker, the practice’s co-owner and director of rhinology.

Dr. Daniel Becker, Samuel Becker’s brother, started the practice up in 2003. Samuel Becker joined the practice in 2008. Together they operate four locations throughout Central and South Jersey: one in Princeton, one in Sewell, one in Voorhees, and the newest, in Robbinsville.

The brothers are both board certified otolaryngologists who subspecialize in nasal and allergy care.

“For the most part, we’re seeing people with nose, sinus and allergy problems all day,” Samuel Becker said.

Patients often come in to see the doctors complaining that they have difficulty breathing or suffer from sinus headaches. The doctors aim to determine the cause of the discomfort.

“People don’t often understand the relationship between their sinus problems and allergies,” Dr. Becker said. “We try to approach these problems from many different angles.”

The doctors begin each patient’s initial consultation with a thorough physical examination. Once they have done that, they try to get to the root causes so they can target treatment to whatever the problem is, Dr. Becker said.

It takes only a matter of minutes for the doctors to take a culture to determine if the cause of the ailment is due to an infection. By taking a culture, they can find out if a patient have an infection, and if they do, what the right antibiotic would be, Dr. Becker said.

Becker, who is on the clinical faculty at the University of Pennsylvania, is proud to offer some of the latest technological treatments to his patients. He says the center utilizes a number of advanced and minimally invasive treatment options that can help reduce nasal blockages.

Using that technology and their experience, the doctors explore the possible causes of discomfort in their patients.

“Say a patient says, ‘I have sinus infection,’” Dr. Becker said. “But is it a bacterial sinus infection, or is it just a common cold that’s lasted a few extra days? That’s very difficult to figure out. Because of technologies available, there are things we can do to help us answer the question.

“We have a lot of technology on our side,” Dr. Becker said. “We add into that a variety of medical options and start to unravel the mystery of why people have problems.”

The doctor is pleased to be able to provide relief to so many patients.

“I enjoy what I do,” he said. “I get to meet a lot of nice people with problems, and I get to help them so they can enjoy their lives.”
