Elaine Pagels is set to present the 2013 James Baldwin Lecture Feb. 12.

Her lecture, Art, Music and Politics in the Book of Revelation, is set for 7 p.m. Feb. 12, in Princeton University’s McCormick Hall, Room 101.

Pagels is the Harrington Spear Paine Foundation Professor of Religion at Princeton University, who researches Gnosticism and early Christianity.

She will read from and speak about her latest book, “Revelations: Visions, Prophecy and Politics in the Book of Revelation,” in which she discusses the New Testament Book of Revelation and other Jewish, Christian and pagan books of Revelation written around the same time.

A book signing will follow the presentation.

The lecture honors the late James Baldwin, a culture critic and essayist who focuses on the relationship of race with democracy in American society.
