Several local parks have reopened following temporary winter closures prompted by environmental conditions and public health concerns.

Pete Sensi Park, Dr. Farmer’s Park, and the water area along the Old Mill parking lot at Heritage Park are now fully accessible to the public, officials said in the township’s email newsletter.

The areas had been closed out of an abundance of caution to protect public health during recent environmental conditions. Officials said recent warmer temperatures helped improve conditions by melting ice and allowing for cleanup operations to be completed.

Public Works crews played a key role in restoring the sites, according to the township’s email newsletter. Their work included the safe collection and proper disposal of 87 deceased geese.

Officials thanked residents for their patience and cooperation during the closures, noting in the newsletter that community support helped ensure public safety.

“If you see a sick or dead goose in any public park, please contact Borough Hall at 609-259-3151 ext. 112,” said the newsletter.

It also advised residents who encounter sick or dead geese on private property to avoid direct contact, use protective gloves, and follow proper safety guidelines.
