Slackwood Elementary School celebrates Arbor Day

Lawrence Township celebrated Arbor Day with a tree planting on May 14 at Slackwood Elementary School.

Lawrence Township Public Works Department planted a Serviceberry tree, which are native to the area and well suited for residential streets and parks.

On behalf of the Lawrence Township Council, Councilman Michael Powers read a proclamation recognizing Arbor Day and presented it to the Slackwood School.

The Township has recognized Arbor Day with tree planting activities every year since 1996.

The Lawrence Township Shade Tree Advisory Committee was created by the Township Council to provide advice on street tree matters. The Committee meets the 4th Monday of each month.
