Mercer County artists to display work at Lawrence library

Two Mercer County artist are set to present ART=MC2 at the Lawrence Headquarters Branch of the county library system.

The exhibition features work by Bill and Helene Plank. The artists met as Visual Arts students at Mercer County Community College in West Windsor.

Throughout his 25-year career as an art teacher, Bill Plank has continued to produce and exhibit his acrylic paintings at venues such as ETS and Capitol Health Hopewell. He has won numerous awards, and his work is included in the permanent collection of the Mercer County Cultural and Heritage Commission. His artwork is represented by the Lawrence Art and Frame Gallery in Lawrenceville.

Helene Plank began her career as a graphic designer and later worked as a freelance designer. Continuing her work throughout a career as a higher education administrator, she has further developed her skills to include hand-crafted wearable art pieces and jewelry designs. Her recent work includes mosaic designs created with recycled buttons and beads sewn onto canvas. Her artwork was accepted into the Mercer County Artists 2014 juried exhibit.

ART=MC2 is scheduled to run May 1 to 31. A reception to meet the artists is set for 2 to 4 p.m. May 4 at the library, 2751 Brunswick Pike, Lawrenceville.

Library hours are 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 12:30 to 5 p.m. Sunday. The library is scheduled to be closed from May 24 to 26 in observance of Memorial Day.
