Sustainable Lawrence is hosting the Let’s Move Lawrence Ralph Copleman Neighborhood Bike Ride on Sunday, June 3 at 10 a.m. A rain date is scheduled for Saturday, June 9.

Riders will meet in the bus parking lot of Lawrence High School, 2525 Princeton Pike, Lawrence.

Part of the bike ride goes through the neighborhood along the Shabakunk creek. Bikers ride through Rider University, the trolley line trail and Loveless Nature Preserve, before ending back at the high school.

Sustainable Lawrence recommends either a hybrid or mountain bike for this ride since portions of the route will follow unpaved trails.

Ralph Copleman was a Lawrence resident and an avid cyclist who biked all over town. For his 60th birthday, he road 3,500 miles across the country. In addition to cycling, he loved to write and was an author of many poems and a poetry book. In 2005, Copleman helped to create and lead Sustainable Lawrence, a nonprofit that promotes the adoption of sustainable practices throughout Lawrence Township.
