Volunteers from the Lawrence Middle school, Lawrence High School and St. Paul School teamed up with Dr. Marie Dang, of Mercer Orthodontics, for Operation Gratitude.

On Nov. 3, children brought their extra Halloween candy to Dang’s office and donated it to Operation Gratitude, an organization dedicated to helping active duty soldiers and veterans. The volunteers received $1 for every pound of candy they donated.

Dang collected the candy and sent it to troops overseas. In addition to the candy, the troops also received thank you letters, toothbrushes and toothpaste. In total, over 380 pounds of candy was collected for soldiers.
