Lawrence Middle School eighth grader, James Gow, is set to represent New Jersey in the National History Day Contest at the University of Maryland June 9 through 13.
At the week-long event, students will present the research papers, exhibits, documentaries, websites and performances that earned them top honors state history day competitions.
Gow won first place in the Junior Division’s Individual Website category at New Jersey History Day at William Paterson University in Wayne on May 4. His website topic is “Martin Luther: A Turning Point in the Religious and Political History of the World.”
He is set to travel to the national competition with Lawrence Middle School history enrichment teacher Priscilla Taylor.
New Jersey History Day is a year-long educational program designed for students in grades six through 12. Throughout the school year, students conduct research of primary and secondary resources in order to prepare presentations based on an annual theme.
