Lawrence 7-8 boys lacrosse team wins Central Jersey title

The Lawrence Township 7th-8th Grade Boys Youth Lacrosse Team recently clinched the Central Jersey Youth Lacrosse League championship.

Lawrence defeated cross-town rival Hopewell in a 7-6 overtime victory to clinch the title. The win was the club’s second Varsity boys championship in the last three years.

“We are incredibly proud of these boys and the effort they put in all season,” said Brian Okupski, boys program coordinator of the Lawrence Lacrosse Club. “This championship is a testament to their dedication, teamwork, and love for the game.”

The championship game was a nail-biter, with both teams showcasing exceptional skill and determination, Okupski said. The match extended into overtime, where Lawrence secured the winning goal, sealing their status as Central Jersey champions.

“Every player stepped up and played their role,” Okupski added. “They supported each other and worked hard every single day. That’s what makes this championship so special.”

The victory marks a significant achievement for the Lawrence Lacrosse Club, reflecting the growth and development of its youth programs. The club continues to foster young talent, emphasizing fundamentals, sportsmanship, and a passion for lacrosse.
