Garbage truck fire temporarily closes Eldridge Avenue in Lawrence

A garbage truck fire in Lawrence Township has shut down Eldridge Avenue between Route 206 and Rossa Avenue, according to police reports.

The Slackwood Volunteer Fire Company has responded to the fire. Engine 21 has established water supply and laid over 500 feet of five inch hose, according to a statement from the fire company.

Eldridge Avenue was closed for roughly four hours this morning as officials worked to clean the area after the fire was extinguished.

Police have not released any additional information about the fire at this time.
