Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association received a $65,000 RBC Blue Water Project Leadership Grant.

RBC Wealth Management provides the grant to fund river-friendly initiatives for water protection and restoration.

The RBC Leadership Grant will support the Watershed’s mission to enhance the quality of the natural environment in the 265-square mile area drained by the Stony Brook and the Millstone River. They accomplish this by addressing key issues affecting water quality and land use, educating area residents about the ecology of the natural environment and preserving open space by maintaining a 930-acre nature reserve and organic farm.

The Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association is central New Jersey’s first environmental organization. Since 1949, the organization has worked to protect clean water and the environment through conservation, advocacy, science and education.

RBC Blue Water Project Leadership Grants fund programs in towns and cities with populations of more than 10,000 people that focus on improving urban water quality, improving management of urban storm and rain water, the efficient use of water in towns and protecting and restoring urban waterways.

This year, RBC has committed $2.7 million in Leadership and Community Action Grants globally, to 134 organizations that are committed to addressing urban water issues, and protecting water in towns and cities. The Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association is one of only three leadership grant recipients in the United States.
