K-9 Hero Haven is coming back to Hopewell on Saturday, Sept. 30 at noon for a meet and greet with volunteers and retired working dogs. K-9 Hero Haven volunteers will share the stories of the retired military, police and service dogs looking for their permanent retirement homes.
Calvary Baptist Church and Ties to Home Troop Support have teamed up with K-9 Hero Haven, from Herndon, Pennsylvania, to bring the story of these heroes to the attention of locals. The event will be held rain or shine at the church, 3 East Broad Street, Hopewell.
Come and meet organizers, Anne and Mike, and several K-9 heroes to learn more about their organization, the work and bravery of these dogs and handlers, and what is involved in placing these highly intelligent, trained dogs in their fur-ever retirement homes.
K-9 Hero Haven was organized in 2015 and to date has placed more than 100 retired military, contract, explosive detection, police and service dogs in loving homes at the end of their working careers. Each dog’s age, health and career history is a determining factor in the amount of time it could take to place them in the right, loving home. When possible, the dogs are placed with the handler who partnered with them while they were deployed or working.
Lunch will be sold, and homemade baked items and tables of special gift items for humans and their pets will also be available for sale. All proceeds raised will benefit K-9 Hero Haven. K-9 Hero Haven is a nonprofit organization operated by all volunteers.
