The story of Titusville Mills and the Fiddlers Creek Ravine will be the subject of a talk by historian Jack Koeppel at Howell Living History Farm on Friday, Nov. 17, at 7:30 p.m.
The presentation will tell the story of the enterprising Titus family and the business empire they created along Fiddlers Creek, near the village that bears their name. The talk will include photographs of mills and industries that once thrived on the banks of the Delaware River and nearby Delaware & Raritan Canal.
A lifelong resident of Hopewell Valley, Koeppel has studied the area’s past for many years, and in 1986 spearheaded a movement to establish a permanent collection of related artifacts and documents. He served many years as trustee of the Hopewell Valley Historical Society, Friends of Hopewell Valley Open Space and Howell Living History Farm.
The program will be held in the farm’s Visitor Center and will be followed by opportunities to meet Koeppel and members of the Hopewell Valley Historical Society, co-sponsor of the event. Refreshments will be served, courtesy of The Friends of Howell Farm.
Howell Farm is located at 70 Woodens Lane, Hopewell Township. Visiting hours at the farm are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays. Parking and admission are free, but donations are accepted.
