Game recaps, highlights from Hopewell Valley Soccer Association’s Oct. 20-21 games

The following game recaps were submitted by the Hopewell Valley Soccer Association coaches. The games took place Saturday, Oct. 20 and Sunday, Oct. 21.

Princeton Nassau Pediatrics played well but came up just short, 2-1, against Wilson Apple Funeral Home on Sunday. Offensively, Princeton Nassau Pediatrics looked strong, with great passing and communication by Bodhi Brown, Jeremy English, Allen Ye, and Emil Rybovic. Emil scored the lone goal. Defense was strong by Samuel Girmachew, Allen Ye, and especially goalie Kaempfer Harjes, who had many saves on goal.

On Saturday, Rely Mechanical defeated Horvath and Giacin 4-0 on a crisp Fall morning. Conor O’Boyle and Ryan Fornal scored goals for Rely and Bryson Chase added two more goals in the fourth quarter. Jake Parker, Preston Horvath, John Troiano and Conor O’Boyle played four strong quarters in goal to maintain the shutout. Michael Fornal, Anthony Rinaldi, Andrew Young and Eli Pashman played aggressive throughout the game.

On Sunday, Rely Mechanical defeated DeSimone Orthodontics, winning 3-2 on goals from Bryson Chase, Conor O’Boyle and Ryan Fornal. The entire Rely team spaced the field and had a number great passing opportunities from John Troiano, Michael Fornal, Preston Horvath and Jake Parker. Eli Pashman, Anthony Rinaldi and Andrew Young challenged every ball and ran down the DeSimone strikers throughout the game.

On Saturday, Team HVSA-White lost to DeSimone Orthodontics 6-1. Defenders Brett Streeper and Yaseen Mansour made some great stops for Team HVSA-White while goalies John Grgurich, Juan Geller and Trevor LiVecchi worked hard to protect the net. Solid midfield play by Chance Hutnik and Anthony Raub kept Team HVSA-White in the game. On offense, Vincent Matticoli, assisted by Aidan Rhodes, connected with the net to score the lone goal for Team HVSA-White.

On Sunday, Team HVSA-White defeated Northwestern Mutual, 5-0. Trevor LiVecchi scored three goals. Samy Abdel-Mawla and Vincent Matticoli also scored. Defensemen Juan Geller and Jason Jaffe attacked the ball. Midfielders John Grgurich, Anthony Raub, Aidan Rhodes and Chance Hutnik hustled up and down the field making great plays for Team HVSA-White. Vincent Matticoli and Trevor LiVecchi made outstanding saves in goal to earn the shutout victory.

On Saturday, Greenleaf Lawn & Landscape defeated Northwestern Mutual 2-1. Greenleaf midfielder Ethan Valenza broke the tie in the second quarter, on a pass from striker Justin Edgington. Later in the third quarter, Justin put Greenleaf ahead 2-0, when striker Nathan Camilleri threaded a pass into the goal box. Greenleaf defenders Brayden Kennedy, Bodhi Lamontagne and Christian Casey held off a persistent Northwestern Mutual attack. Goalkeepers Liam Buchert and Nathan Edgington had many saves, including Liam’s outstanding block of a penalty kick.
