The Hamilton Police have arrested Richard G. Halley, a 54-year-old homeless man, in connection with a burglary that occurred on Nov. 18.

Officers responded to report of a burglary in progress in the 300 block of Whitehead Road shortly after 10 p.m.

The caller reported that a male suspect wearing a ski mask kicked in the door of a detached garage on the side of a residence. When confronted by the caller, the suspect pushed past the resident, taking two electric bicycles, police said.

Members of the Hamilton Police Division, along with the department’s unmanned aerial vehicle unit (drone), conducted an extensive search of the area. The UAV Unit was instrumental in locating the suspect, authorities said.

“Officer Todd Oakley piloted the UAV and directed officers to the suspect’s position,” said a new release from the department. “Officers Jewell, Doan, McLaren, Hogan, C. Astbury, Guerieri, Sparano and Biondi, along with Sgt. Kevin Perkins, participated in the investigation and apprehension of the suspect.”

Halley was arrested and charged with robbery, theft, burglary and criminal mischief, police said.

Anyone with additional information regarding the incident is asked to contact Det. F. LaVacca at 609-581-4080 or the Hamilton Police Crime Tip Hotline at 609-581-4008.
