Hamilton Police to host National Night Out Aug. 6

Hamilton Police are set to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of National Night Out on Aug. 6.

The event is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. at Hamilton Township Police Headquarters, 1270 Whitehorse-Mercerville Road.

National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for local anti-crime efforts, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.

During event hours, police encourage Hamilton residents to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with their neighbors as a sign of solidarity and an exhibit of community support against crime and illegal drug activity.

Hamilton’s National Night Out features displays from various units within the Hamilton Police Division, including the SWAT Team, DARE/GREAT officers, Officer Friendly representatives, Crime Prevention/Neighborhood Watch, Crime Scene Investigators, Emergency Response Team and the Traffic Unit.

Representatives from the Mercer County Sheriff’s Canine Unit and Programs Unit, the Hamilton Township Animal Control Unit, Mercer County Prosecutors Office, Colonial Fire Company, Nottingham Ambulance Squad are also scheduled to attend.

In addition to the informational displays, the event it set to include kids games and prizes, a dunk tank and an air slide. The police are set to provide food, beverages and water ice as long as supplies last.

Parking is available on the Municipal Court side of the building.
