After more than a year of receiving swatting calls about fake emergencies throughout Hamilton, police have arrested a suspect.
Treyvon K. Holt, a 22-year-old Trenton resident, was arrested yesterday for his alleged role in roughly 17 swatting phone calls in Hamilton and Florence.
Beginning in December 2017, Hamilton police officers were detailed to multiple swatting calls, which deceive an emergency service into sending first responders to another person’s address.
During these incidents, Hamilton officers were tasked with responding to various service calls ranging from shots fired, children not breathing, smoke conditions, burglaries in progress and home invasions. Given the nature of these calls, police said they are given a high priority status along with an emergency response by police and fire.
Hamilton detectives were contacted by Florence Township detectives Feb. 12 regarding a suspect, Holt, that was in custody for two swatting calls within their jurisdiction. Holt was then arrested for an additional 15 calls made within Hamilton Township.
