The Hamilton Township Patriotic Committee is raising funds for their next project, a monument to honor military working dogs.

Military working dogs play a major role in protecting our troops both at home and overseas. According to a statement from the HTPC, they were first used in the Spanish-American War of 1898. To honor these four-legged heroes, the patriotic committee hopes to dedicate a monument in Veterans Park sometime in 2018.

For over 21 years, the HTPC has been working to build military displays and monuments to honor every branch of the armed forces throughout Veterans Park. Most recently, the committee dedicated a monument for veterans of the United States Coast Guard in August.

To make a donation, send a check to: Hamilton Township Patriotic Committee, 2090 Greenwood Avenue, Hamilton, New Jersey 08609; ATTN: Working Dog Monument.

The HTPC is a nonprofit organization exclusively for the promotion and furtherance of patriotism within Hamilton. All donations are tax deductible.
