Zonta Club of Trenton/Mercer awarded the 2014 Grace Brauninger Scholarshipduring its monthly meeting at Villa Maria Restaurant Aug. 8.

Club co-president Suzanne Methot awarded $2,500 to Ewing resident Kristy Sutterley and $1,000 to Tonya Coy of Trenton.

Sutterley’s goal is to excel in the Mercer County Community College nursing program, maintaining academic honors, to become a cardiac nurse. Coy plans to obtain her teaching certification so that she can in turn encourage students to be creative, express their own ideas, stimulate their minds and participate in their own educational development.

The Grace Brauninger Scholarship is one of the services to the Mercer County community funded by Zonta Club of Trenton/Mercer. Each grant is to be used toward educational expenses for women over the age of 25.

Funding for the scholarship is raised through its annual Gourmet Garden, a food and wine fest held in the fall. The 11th annual Gourmet Garden is scheduled for Oct. 2 at The Stone Terrace by John Henry, 2275 Kuser Road, Hamilton. Tickets can be purchased by calling (609) 737-3614 or (609) 851-0384.

Zonta Club of Trenton/Mercer is part of the international service club working to improve the legal, political, economic and health status of women and children.
