Soccer star comes to Trenton

United States Women’s National Team midfielder Carli Lloyd paid a visit to the Trenton Country Club on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015. Four hundred young soccer players and their families gathered at the club to hear Lloyd speak and engage in a question and answer session. Each attendee also got to take a picture with Lloyd, who is engaged to TCC’s assistant golf pro, Brian Hollins.Lloyd spoke about the 2015 World Cup, where she scored six goals, earning her Silver Boot honors. She scored a now-famous hat trick in the first 16 minutes of the final match against Japan, becoming the first soccer player since 1966 to do so in a World Cup Final. She also reflected on the beginnings of her soccer career in Delran, New Jersey, her college career at Rutgers and her national team experiences from the youth squad to the highest level.
