Women With a Purpose is set to host a fundraising dinner for Bordentown Regional High School student Dawud Hamdan.

Hamdan was diagnosed with Transverse Myelitis, an inflammation of the spinal cord, in 2010. He is bound to a wheel chair and is unable to stand.

A wheel chair with a standing function would relieve some of the pain associated with Transverse Myelitis. Hamdan’s insurance will not pay for a new wheel chair.

His friends and family started Wheels for Dawud to raise $53,000 for a standing wheel chair. They have raised more than $36,000 through an online campaign, giveforward.com/fundraiser/4nz3/dawudswheels.

Funds raised at WWAP’s dinner will helps ease some of the family’s financial burden.

The dinner is scheduled for 6 p.m. April 29 at Villa Mannino Ristorante, 73 Route 130, Hamilton.

Admission is $25 and includes a family-style dinner, dessert, soft drinks, iced tea, coffee and tea.

Participants should also bring $10 cash or check to be donated to Wheels for Dawud. Outside contributions for this event can be mailed to: Women With A Purpose, PO Box 74, Titusville, NJ 08560. Checks can be made payable to Women With A Purpose with “April 29th Dinner” in the memo section.

To register for dinner, email wwap.njpa@gmail.com with the number of guests.
