Two West Windsor residents are competing at the 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Shanghai, China, in October. They are the only two Mercer County residents drafted to the United States team. Monica Koppstein, 19, is competing in bowling. “I am excited to travel to China,” says Koppstein. “It will be my first time meeting people from around the world and I am excited to learn the Chinese culture.”##M:[more]##

Robert Nester, 31, will compete in gymnastics at the games. “I love to compete in all Special Olympics sports, and am ready to compete in gymnastics in China,” he says.

They will both join fellow teammates at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, on July 12 for the Team USA training camp. The event marks the 100-day countdown before the athletes and coaches travel to the games.
