Westminster Kantorei choir to perform April 19

Westminster Kantorei is set to present a concert titled Let God Arise 8 p.m. April 19 at Princeton Meadow Church and Event Center, 545 Meadow Road, West Windsor.

The choir, conducted by Amanda Quist, plan to perform George Friderich Handel’s Chandos anthem Let God Arise, movements of Membra Jesu Nostri by Dietrich Buxtehude and works by Claudio Monteverdi.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students and seniors and can be purchased at the door, online or by phone at (609) 921-2663.

Founded in 2004, Kantorei is an auditioned chamber choir specializing in early and contemporary music. The ensemble is comprised of 22 graduate and undergraduate students.

Kantorei have performed with some of America’s leading specialists in Baroque music, including violinist Nancy Wilson, vocal ensemble Fuma Sacra, and composers Caleb Burhans, James Blachly, Doug Helvering, Philip Rice, Nathan Jones and Stefan Young.

Quist is a faculty member of Westminster Choir College. She also conducts the school’s chapel choir and previously worked with the symphonic choir, which collaborated with the Philadelphia Orchestra, New York Philharmonic and Berlin Philharmonic.

Prior to her position at Westminster, Quist was the director of choral activities at San José State University in California.
