Westminster faculty member performs transformed works

Westminster Choir College is set to present pianist William Hobbs at Bristol Chapel in a program titled “Masterworks Transformed” on October 5 at 3 p.m.

Hobbs will perform original works that have been transformed by another composer, including Brahms’ transcription of Bach’s Chaconne in D Minor from Partita No. 2 for solo violin; Chopin’s Andante Spianato and Grande Polonaise, Op. 22; Liszt’s Paraphrase on Verdi’s Rigoletto; and Liebermann’s Evening Prayer and Dream, Concert Transcription from Humperdinck’s Hänsel ind Gretel.

Hobbs is a member of the faculty at Westminster Choir College. He also works at many of the world’s major opera houses as a conductor and coach including Opéra National de Paris, the Salz­burg Festival, San Francisco Opera, Chicago Lyric Opera, Seattle Opera, Washington Opera and the Opéra de Monte-Carlo.

Admission is free.
