Westminster Concert Bell Choir is set to present a concert titled Tidings of Comfort and Joy Dec. 7 and 8.
The program features holiday music with the themes of angels, such as arrangements of Hark The Herald Angels Sing, Angels We Have Heard On High and John Rutter’s Angels’ Carol.
The ensemble is also set to perform works composed for handbells, including Cathy Moklebust’s Festival Sanctus and Arnold Sherman’s Flourishes.
The 16-member Westminster Concert Bell Choir is composed of undergraduate and graduate students of Westminster Choir College of Rider University. This year celebrates the 36th year of the handbell curriculum at Westminster Choir College, which was the first institution in the world to develop such a program.
The Concert Bell Choir has appeared on Public Television’s Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood and several holiday broadcasts of the Today Show. Recently, the ensemble joined Julie Andrews, Christopher Plummer, Charlotte Church and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for a 15-city tour entitled “A Royal Christmas.”
Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for students and seniors.
Performances are scheduled for at 4 p.m. Dec. 7 and 8 at Bristol Chapel on the campus of Westminster Choir College of Rider University, 101 Walnut Lane, Princeton.
