West Windsor-Plainsboro Board of Education Moves for October 16, 2012

At its Tuesday, October 16 meeting the West Windsor-Plainsboro Board of Education approved a one-year, $18,000 site license agreement with the Compass Learning Group to provide web-based differentiated instruction through the Renzulli Learning System for all WW-P K-3 buildings. The contract runs from November 1 until October 31, 2013.

The board approved the following field trips for this school year:

– Junior Statesmen of America to Woodbridge, from November 10 to 11 at a cost of approximately $120 per student.

– Model United Nations to Princeton University, from November 29 to December 2 at a cost of approximately $320 per student.

– Model United Nations to the Ivy League Conference at the University of Pennsylvania from January 24 to January 27. The cost: approximately $375 per student.

– Model United Nations to Boston University from February 22 to 24 at a cost of approximately $375 per student.

– Model United Nations to George Washington University, Washington, D.C., from March 21 to 24, at a cost of $375 per student.

– Senior Class Trip to Disney World in Orlando, Florida, from March 7 to 11. The cost: approximately $1,200 per student.

– Washington Seminar from March 19 to 23, at a cost of approximately $775 per student.

– Special Olympics to Wildwood, from April 6 to April 7 (at no cost).

– Junior Statesmen of America to Woodbridge New Jersey, from November 10 to 11 at a cost of approximately $120 per student.

– Model United Nations to Rutgers University in New Brunswick from November 15 to 18 at a cost of $375 per student.

-) Model United Nations to Princeton University from November 29 to December 2. The cost: approximately $320 per student.

– Model United Nations to the University of Pennsylvania from January 24 to 27. The cost: approximately $375 per student.

– Model United Nations to Georgetown University, Washington, D.C., from February 14 to 17 at a cost of approximately $375 per student.

– Washington Seminar, from March 12 to 16 at a cost of approximately $775 per student.

– Senior Class Trip to Disney World, Orlando, Florida, from March 14 to 18 at a cost of approximately $1,200 per student.

– Model United Nations to George Washington University, Washington, D.C., from March 21 to 24 at a cost of approximately $375 per student.

– Model United Nations to George Washington University, Washington, D.C., from April 11 to 14 at a cost of approximately $375 per student.

– German students from both Grover and Community will go to Washington, D.C. from April 26 to 27 at a cost of approximately $275 per student.

– Grover Middle School Grade 6 Outdoor Education to Timber Tops Camp, Greeley, PA, from June 10 to 14. The cost of the trip is approximately $250 per student.

– Community Middle School Grade 6 Outdoor Education to Camp Canadensis, PA, from June 5 to 7 at a cost of approximately $225 per student.

The board also voted to submit the 2013 STARTALK grant application for $99,500 to fund the Hindi/Urdu Summer Immersion Camp, which was held in the district in July.

In WW-P personnel moves:

— Wenhui Liu has been appointed as a leave-replacement Chinese teacher at Grover Middle School, replacing Susan Hsueh. Liu will earn a prorated salary of $53,880 for the remainder of the school year.

— Jennifer Baier, a special education instructional assistant at Community Middle School, has resigned after 12 years with the district.

— Kirti Paradkhar has been appointed as an instructional assistant for special education at Community, for 3.5 hours a day at a salary of $17.22 an hour. She replaces Donna Brocker, who transferred.

— At Wicoff Elementary Margaret Paradise has been also been appointed as a part-time instructional assistant for special education with the same salary. Judith Vargas, a special education instructional assistant at Millstone Rover, has been reassigned to Village School.

— The school board approved payment of $12,599 to Deborah Meissner, a 12-month secretary at High School North, for unused sick and vacation days (as per contract).

– The board also approved the services of Pamela Dorma to provide occupational therapy for an out-of-district student at a rate of $60 per 30-minute session; $110 per 60-minute session and $90 for attendance at IEP meetings.

Finally, the district has entered into an agreement with Custom Computer Specialists of Suffolk County, NY, to provide a direct link between Infinite Campus and IEP Direct, a special education management and IEP software, at a cost not to exceed $4,200 for completion of work. IEP stands for individualized education program. often developed for students in special education.
