Trenton halts public works projects funded by stalled transportation trust fund

Five Trenton road reconstruction projects totaling $2.8 million that were funded by the Transportation Trust Fund (TTF) have been suspended as a result of Gov. Chris Christie’s

Executive Order No. 210

issued on June 30.

According to a statement issued by the governor’s office, “In the absence of a legislative solution to replenish the Transportation Trust Fund… it is necessary to stop work temporarily on ongoing projects funded by the TTF by 11:59 p.m. on July 8, 2016 for a period of at least seven days.”

The five Trenton city projects include:

Milling and resurfacing of South Broad Street from Lalor Street to Liberty Street, including the construction of ADA-compliant ramps, sidewalks, curbs and tree planting/removal. (TTF Grant Amount: $507,000.)Reconstruction of North Willow Street from Bank Street to Pennington Avenue, including the construction of ADA-compliant ramps, sidewalks, curbs and tree planting/removal. (TTF Grant Amount: $572,880.)Reconstruction of Ferry Street from South Broad Street to Warren Street, including the construction of ADA-compliant ramps, sidewalks, curbs and tree planting/removal. (TTF Grant Amount: $604, 266.)Phase 1 reconstruction of South Clinton Avenue from Greenwood Avenue to Dye Street, including the construction of ADA-compliant ramps, sidewalks, curbs and tree planting/removal. (TTF Grant Amount: $554,075.)Phase 2 reconstruction of South Clinton Avenue between Dye Street and Cedar Lane, including the construction of ADA-compliant ramps, sidewalks, curbs and tree planting/removal. (TTF Grant Amount: $634,834.)
