Trenton Catholic Academy alumni were honored at the Iron Mike’s 50th Anniversary Gala at the Stone Terrace April 20.
The awards are named after TCA founder Monsignor Michael McCorristin, whose students were called Iron Mikes. McCorristin was known for his mission to make Catholic education available to youth, his leadership and service to others.
Class of 1981 alumna Tracey Destribats received an Iron Mike for Service. She joined TCA last summer as the Director of Advancement and serves various non-profit organizations in Mercer County, such as the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen.
Destribats said TCA provides a “safe haven for many students… where they are nurtured and told to believe that they can accomplish great things.”
The Mission award went to class of 1965 alumnus Brian Duperreault, who recently retired as the president and CEO of Marsh & McLennan Companies. He noted that McCorristin was a selfless man who built the school to give student a “great Catholic education.”
In addition to alumni, two corporate citizens received Iron Mikes.
President and CEO of Roma Bank Senator Peter Inverso received the Community Enrichment award.
Managing director of Novahill Partners and former chair of the TCA board of directors Michael Doyle was honored with the award for Leadership.
TCA teacher Lucine Fabian received the Distinguished Educator award for teaching at the school for several decades.
Gala attendees celebrated the 50 year anniversary of TCA.
Founded by McCorristin as St. Anthony High School in 1962, it was later renamed McCorristin Catholic High School in 1979. After a consolidation of several area parochial schools, it became TCA in 2005 and serves children from PreK-12th grade.
Proceeds from the gala are set to benefit scholarships for TCA students.
