Al Aronson’s Turbulence, acrylic on canvas, is set to be displayed at the Arts Council of Princeton exhibition, Structure and Flow: An Exploration of Contrasts in Abstraction. The exhibition is set to open Jan. 12 and close March 9, 2013.

The Arts Council of Princeton is set to open a new exhibition Jan. 12.

Structure and Flow: An Exploration of Contrasts in Abstraction is set to be open Jan. 12 through March 9.

The exhibition is set to feature works by Al Aronson, Benjamin Colbert, Nancy Cohen, John Franklin, and Alyce Gottesman and Mike Gyampo.

The exhibition is curated by ACP executive director Jeff Nathanson.

“Structure and Flow is, in many ways, about jazz and improvisation. It is a visual representation of the contrasts between composed and improvised music as interpreted by visual artists,” Nathanson said.

Nathanson said the exhibition was curated in memory of Aronson, who passed away in September. Aronson was a Princeton resident.

Nathanson said all featured artists are New Jersey residents, including Colbert who is based in Trenton and Franklin from Princeton.

ACP is set to host several events related to the exhibition.

Musical group Outer Bridge is set to perform new composed and improvised music in a CD release concert set for Jan. 18 at 8 p.m.

Two events are scheduled for March 7. Princeton ArtWalk is set for 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. An artists panel discussion is set to begin 7:30 p.m.

Structure and Flow events are set to take place at ACP’s Paul Robeson Center for the Arts, 102 Witherspoon St., Princeton.
