A puppy raiser for five years as a member of the Seeing Eye 4-H Puppy Club, he taught obedience, attended puppy club meetings, exposed his puppies to a variety of social situations and provided them with companionship. He returned each puppy to the Seeing Eye for formal training after 18 months.

“When my mother was in high school, she raised Seeing Eye puppies and through we should give that a go,” says Snieckus, 17, who has been home schooled for part of his education. “It is amazing how the Seeing Eye trainers can take a puppy that is pretty much just a family pet and turn it into a guide dog that can bring a blind person so much closer to the freedoms most people take for granted.”
