This second grade West Windsor Plainsboro troop of 17 girls is led by Louisa Ho, Archana Tilve, and Lyne Simpson.

Troop members include Jessica Bistrais, Tuhina Chakravorty, Anusha Chintalapati, Vandana Gollarhalli, Danielle Grochmal, Geetika Guruprasad, Nidhi Khanna, Lili Kobayashi, Julia Laresch, Ellen Ling, Samantha Quinlan, Reagan Ritterbush, Felisa Simpson, Mary Simpson, Emily Sohn, Aashna Tilve and Harpriya Wason.

“It was amazing to see the second graders so attentive, and taking an interest in other kids,” said assistant troop leader Archana Tilve. “They actually sat there for 30 minutes, and asked a lot of good questions.”

Assistants at the meeting included Michele Grochmal, a parent; and Junior scouts Katie May, Nikita Barde, Amy Laresch, and Kelsey Townsend.

“I enjoyed talking with the children of Brownie Troop 1866 and was impressed by their insightful questions regarding the everyday struggles of TASK’s adult and children patrons,” said Diane Subber of TASK. “It was clear to me, from their serious expressions, that they were interested in understanding the needs of the people who come to the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen.”

TASK, a charitable, non-profit organization provides more than 3,”000 free meals a week to people in the Trenton area. The organization also provides outreach programs including adult education, computer training, health care counseling, screening and referrals, social services, children’s activities, and arts and crafts. For information visit www.trentonsoupkitchen.org or call 609-695-5456.

“I thought this activity was the best,” said parent Michele Grochmal. “It’s very important to let children know how other people live and it’s important to help others.”

For information about joining Girl Scouts in the fall, parents should attend recruitment night for West Windsor-Plainsboro Girl Scout Troops on Tuesday, May 2, at 7 p.m. at Town Center Elementary School in Plainsboro. Contact Pat Helck at 609-897-0529 or E-mail girlscoutswwp@verizon.net.
