Dutch Neck School teachers Judy Breitenbach, Christi Campbell, Carley Fisher-Maltese, and Judi Shilling created a school community garden at the school last summer. It has become a living laboratory where lessons are drawn from real life experiences rather than hypothetical textbook examples or prepackaged science kits.

The new garden consists of a new path and outdoor amphitheater, an innovative teaching tool providing educators with opportunities to incorporate hands-on activities for a diversity of interdisciplinary, standards-based lessons, engages students by providing a dynamic environment to observe, discover, experiment, nurture, and learn.
