Russ Johnson of West Windsor, who founded the New American Gallery, an online art gallery three years ago, has mounted a new exhibit, “Garden State Vistas,” highlighting work by nine New Jersey artists.“With rare exception, Russ Johnson paints what he finds within a day’s drive of his home in Princeton Junction, New Jersey,” states Johnson’s bio on the webpage www.rhjart.com. “And whether he’s studying the ruins of an old barn in Pennsylvania or the play of light on a Maine lighthouse, he believes that less is generally more — and that successful paintings come from editing reality down to a strong design.”Johnson is a full-time artist whose work hangs in private collections throughout the country. He is on the faculty of the Somerset Art Association in Bedminster. The site does not accept advertising, charge artist fees, or accept a commission from artists. Visit www.newamgallery.com and click on current exhibition to find “Garden State Vistas.”
