Community members in Robbinsville will come together Dec. 5 to welcome in the holiday season with an evening full of activities.
Robbinsville Township’s annual Christmas Tree and Menorah Lighting celebration technically starts at 6:30 p.m. at the township’s senior center (1117 Route 130), but the festivities begin hours earlier.
At 5 p.m., children can make holiday crafts, led by members of Robbinsville’s Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse. Those participating in the 5 p.m. crafting event will have the option of placing the ornaments on little Christmas trees around the Senior Center.
From 5 to 8 p.m., Photography by Jen Davis will be taking holiday portraits. The portraits are free with a monetary donation to Robbinsville Meals on Wheels, and come with the option of including Santa in the photo. The image will be provided as a high resolution digital download.
The program begins at 6:30 p.m. The Robbinsville High School choir will kick off the event with holiday songs. Then, town officials will speak to the public and start the countdown for the lights at 6:50 p.m.
At 7, the Menorah and Christmas tree will be lit. The tree is located outside of the senior center. The event will be outside, but guests will be invited inside the senior center, as well.
David Bradley Chocolates will prepare hot chocolate, and will have free treats for all residents. Members of the Robbinsville Police Department will be roaming the event, handing out the hot chocolate to residents. The Robbinsville Fire Department will bring Santa to the event on a fire truck, and pass out candy for attendees.
Representatives from the Robbinsville branch of the Mercer County library will be on hand as well, with information and giveaways for the residents.
