Robbinsville Ravens take runner-up at Elite Championship Tournament

The Robbinsville Ravens travel team was the runner-up at the ECTB 9U tournament on May 10, 2015. The Robbinsville Ravens traveled to Allentown, Pa to compete in the Elite Championship Tournament Baseball (ECTB) 9U tournament on Mother’s Day, May 10. The team took runner-up in the competitive tournament.

After going 1-1 in pool play, the Ravens’ first playoff game was against Baseball U (University). Down 9-0 in the top of the 4th, Dylan Carmiginani led off with a single that led to a nine hit barrage and six runs in the inning. Evan Bunnell hit a bomb to right center field scoring two runs. Mike Contiliano hit a big double in the top of the 5th to score and then pitched a solid 1 2/3 innings relief. After going extra innings, Jamison Pike had the hit of the weekend, with a two run RBI single to win the game, 11-10.

In the semi-final game, the Ravens faced the hard hitting Legit Baseball Academy, who they lost to in pool play. Fighting back to win after being down 3-0 in the top of the 4th, Noah Oliva and catcher Dylan Carmigiani led off with singles. Patrick Kapp scored a runner with a line drive shot. Grayson Hopkins and Evan Bunnell played outfield keeping the base runners from taking extra bags.

Luke Billings had a base clearing triple in the top of the 4th inning and Ryan Dziedic had multiple hits while Patrick Kapp had a huge defensive out at 3B, doubling up with a runner trying to advance home. Mike Contialon had a huge RBI single in the bottom of the 5th inning. Christian Yoo pitched 2 2/3 innings in relief and Ryan Dziedic shut the door to get the save, 10-8.

In the championship game, the Ravens got two big hits by Noah Oliva, Konnor Rosica, Christian Yoo, Grayson Hopkins and another monster bomb by Evan Bunnell. Grayson Hopkins had a solid game catching by a hard hitting Central Penn Renegades team, while Patrick Kapp pitched strong relief.

Dylan Carmiginani’s bat stayed hot all weekend, with multiples hits and bunts. Jamison Pike, playing 2B, flashed leather all weekend. Ryan Dziedic provided solid pitching in three games, while Oliva, Billings and Konnor Rosica started and pitched in relief, in pool and playoff games.
