Robbinsville Girl Scouts earn silver award

Girl Scout Troop #71870 created an oasis for rabbits for their Silver Award Project.

Cadettes Gianna Madaio, Micayla Reynolds and Nicole Russo from Allentown/Robbinsville Service Unit planned and implemented the building of a “Hotel for Bunnies” at Riding High Farm in Allentown.

The scouts worked with contractor Bruce McMillan and built a multi-level hutch housing four bunnies. The troop then attended a local auction and rescued bunnies, which are now housed in the hotel.

Madaio, Reynolds and Russo led classes for people at the farm on how to care for bunnies. Their project addressed issues such as saving bunnies and teaching the autistic clients basic skills.

The Silver Award Take Action project is the highest award a Girl Scout Cadette can earn. The award recognizes the scouts as an organized leader who is determined and dedicated to improving their community.

Riding High Farm was organized in 1979 as a not-for-profit 501c(3) corporation. Their mission is to provide special needs riders with recreational and therapeutic instruction.
