Psychologist to speak about the effects of child-targeted marketing

Susan Linn

Susan Linn is set to give a talk titled Consuming Kids: Raising Healthy Children in a Media Saturated World at the Princeton Public Library on April 30 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Linn is psychologist who is the founder and director of the Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood.

She will speak about child-targeted marketing which is linked to precocious sexuality, eating disorders, youth violence, childhood obesity, rampant consumerism, family stress and the erosion of children’s creative play.

She will also be talking about what can be done about it.

Linn has written extensively about the effects of media and commercial marketing on children including the books Consuming Kids: The Hostile Takeover of Childhood and The Case for Make Believe: Saving Play in a Commercialized World.

Princeton Public Library is located at 65 Witherspoon Street, Princeton.
