Princeton Day School is set to display Metamorphosisters, an exhibition featuring the artwork of Liv Aanrud and Samantha Ritter.

The exhibition is scheduled to run Feb. 10 to March 6 at the Anne Reid ’72 Art Gallery. An opening reception is set for 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Feb 10

Metamorphosisters features sculptural woven works by Aanrud and Ritter, composed of hose and other materials traditionally used by women throughout history. Both artists instill the idea of explosive, irrepressible growth, and the struggle of trying to gain control over uncontrollable things.

Ritter graduated from Princeton University in 2013 and now lives in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. She will exhibit her most recent body of work which includes a series of small sculptures using resin and pantyhose, which are the size of a shoebox. In addition to her sculptures, Ritter plans to construct a large, site-specific wall sculpture.

Aanrud, a fiber artist living in Los Angeles, has re-invented the craft of weaving. Her non-traditional weavings are irregular in color, size and format. They tend to spill over or push out of the edges, grow organically, and they refuse to conform to a traditional, regular shape.

This exhibition is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday when school is in session, and by appointment on weekends.
