Princeton Day School production nominated for Theater Night awards

Princeton Day School students prepare for the high school version of the Tony Awards.

The school’s artist-in-residence Stan Cahill announced their fall production of Anon(ymous) by Naomi Iizuki earned eight nominations in the Montclair State University Theater Night Awards Program.

About 50 private and public schools participated in the statewide competition, which recognizes excellence in non-musical plays produced by secondary schools.

Junior Naiyah Ambros and freshman Jay Mack, both Ewing residents, earned nominations in the lead actor and actress categories for their performances as Nemasani and Anon, respectively.

Sophomore Jessica Toltzis, of Yardley, Pa., was nominated for best supporting actress for her performance as Pascal.

In addition, the cast is nominated for best performance by an ensemble. Anon(ymous) also earned nominations for best lighting design, sound design and overall production.

Cahill earned a nomination for best director.

This is the first year that PDS participated in the Theater Night Awards, which is run by the MSU Theater Department and School of the Arts.

Award winners are scheduled to be announced in an awards ceremony April 26 at MSU’s Memorial Auditorium.
