In an attempt to ease traffic congestion in the area of Old Trenton Road, West Windsor officials have adjusted left turn lights and coned off areas affected by the bridge closure.

Earlier this week, officials shut down a portion of Old Trenton Road in West Windsor to replace a bridge over Bridgegroom Run. No traffic of any kind is permitted to cross the bridge, and traffic is being detoured using New Village Road and Edinburg Road.

The road closure has caused major delays in the area, and police officers are working with local government officials to find ways to ease some of the congestion.

Crews extended the left turn lights during morning and afternoon rush hours, according to a statement from Police Chief Robert Garofalo. He added that adjustments will be made based on future traffic patterns, and the township will continue working with the New Jersey Department of Transportation to find the best possible solution to the traffic issues.

“I ask that you use extra patience with your fellow drivers and pedestrians as they are experiencing the same issues you are,” Garofalo said in his statement. “We are all working together to make this repair as painless as possible.”
