Three Pulitzer Prize-winners are set to present as part of Princeton Public Library’s Beyond Words event.

Beyond Words: Tastes of New York To Benefit Princeton Public Library is scheduled for Oct. 19 at Nassau Presbyterian Church and outside the library on Witherspoon Street.

Friends of the Princeton Public Library organized the event; the benefit is one of the largest fundraising events on the library’s calendar.

The evening is set to begin 6 p.m. at the church with three Pulitzer Prize-winning authors, all affiliated with Princeton University and The New Yorker magazine. Longtime New Yorker contributor John McPhee will introduce the participants in the evening’s featured conversation, editor David Remnick and poetry editor Paul Muldoon.

Following the presentation, at 7:15 p.m., the event continues at the library where Witherspoon Street will be tented and transformed into a New York City-themed street fair featuring some of the city’s finest gourmet food trucks, entertainment and a silent auction.

Among the six gourmet food trucks will be Rickshaw Dumpling, Mexicue, Frites ‘N’ Meats, Taim Mobile, Wafels and Dinges and Coolhaus.

Entertainment includes the George Quinn Jazz Trio with vocalist Allison Spann, caricature artists, a New York City-inspired photo booth and other surprise entertainment.

The evening’s silent auction features a variety of items at all price levels including getaways, area entertainment and other treasures. The items are available for preview and bidding online at biddingforgood.com/beyondwords through Oct. 17.

A raffle is also part of the Beyond Words benefit, and winning tickets will be drawn during the evening. First prize is a red Vespa that has been on display at the library’s welcome desk. Second prize is two one-year passes to the Princeton Garden Theatre, and third prize is unlimited DVD rentals from the library for one year. Tickets are $20 each or three for $50 and may be purchased in advance of the benefit at the library.

Tickets remain available for the talk-only portion of Beyond Words. They may be purchased online at princetonlibrary.org. Tickets that include the dinner/street fair portion of the evening are sold out.
